Theater for Life

Discipline, timeliness, organization and confidence is how Mallory Dornay '20 describes her drama career in short.  "In drama I find my dreams," she said.

With a busy schedule, Dornay still won't take a minute in drama class for granted. According to Dornay, drama is "definitely the most interactive classes I took because you are always with people, and you have something in common. you all love to act, or to sing, so it's just really fun to portray different characters, and sing songs and to just get in the mindset of someone else is really fun and to be up on stage in general."

Being involved in acting for 6 years, Alvin Chen '20 excitingly described his acting experience as honoring, because he enjoys the diversity among individuals very much. "This process is so appealing to me. It is so worth it for me to study and research the process of getting to know a different person, a different character."

"Acting is about being natural up on stage and how you feel inside," Chen stated. "From my interpretation, It doesn’t only bring you fun, college major, or how you are going to survive in the future, but by being someone else in a different, background and identity in a specific environment, how you can understand one another from different perspectives."

Dornay at the same time saw acting as an oppurtunity to perform better. "Even with a big commitment, but for me I just want to be excellent, to have fun with it and be the best you can be. Since everyone Is watching you, It doesn’t matter what role, everyone is still paying attention to you. "

"There are 7.7 billion people in the world, and there are always things you won't learn right away, but I do know knowledge is infinite," Chen said. "I love acting, I love how people with a different mindset and how they interpret things. If you start looking it from their point of view, all of a sudden, ah!, it all makes sense," he said.

As Chen declares his major in Screen acting and Dornay hopes to join a drama club in college, we wish them best of luck in the future on pursuing their love for acting and theater.
