Baking Season

Pumpkins, Fall, Halloween treats. It's officially baking season!

"Baking is a passion God has given me." said Mrs. Hudon, the school's Performing Arts Coordinator. Mrs. Hudon has more than enough to say to baking enthusiasts during this holiday season. She offered some helpful suggestions, "For me, baking is a life style for me not only during the holidays." said Mrs. Hudon.

One of her favorite Halloween dishes to make is the pumpkin maple scone." I love it because encapsulate the way I feel about food which is healthy, flavorful and beautiful." said Mrs. Hudon, "Baking involves all senses and understanding what you are preparing before you put actions into it. It’s a process". Mrs. Hudon's best bakery tips include:

  1. Read through recipe first

  2. Make sure all of the ingredients are immediately on hand

  3. Taste the product after you make it

  4. Make it towards your own preference

  5. Try again if you don’t like the product

Baking isn't just a holiday, it’s a tradition. Gabe Grimm'20 has enjoyed the tradition of making Pumpkin Pies for her family the past seven years. "I bake 6 pumpkin pies and 3 little ones from scratch, and add cranberry sauce at the end as finishing touches." said Grimm'20.

During the summer, she also learned a lot from Mrs. Hudon about baking. If any of the students have any questions about baking holiday treats or just decorating desserts in general, I am sure that she would love to help out and answer them.
